1. Estimates only — not professional advice

Every figure on this site is a planning estimate produced automatically from the values you enter. It is not engineering, architectural, structural, code, permitting, or safety advice, and it is not a bid, a quote, or a guarantee of cost, quantity, availability, or fitness for your project.

Building codes, local amendments, soil conditions, seismic, wind and frost-depth requirements, inspections, and permit rules vary by jurisdiction and always take priority over anything shown here. Verify structural spans, footing depths, fastener schedules, egress, electrical, plumbing, gas, and ventilation requirements with your local building department and a licensed professional before purchasing materials or starting work.

Prices shown are reference figures captured on a stated date. The price, availability, and specification at the retailer at the time of purchase control.

You remain responsible for checking measurements, quantities, and material selections. We recommend confirming any material list with your supplier or contractor before you buy.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account, save projects, or submit a quote request. If you sign in, you are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, because sign-in links are sent by email. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission. We may suspend or close an account that is used in breach of these Terms.

3. Acceptable use

• Do not use automated systems to scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract content, estimator output, or pricing data from the site.
• Do not reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute the estimators, databases, or site code.
• Do not republish or resell our estimator output as your own commercial dataset or product without written permission.
• Do not interfere with, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site or its infrastructure.
• Do not use the site for unlawful purposes, or submit contact details that are not yours or that you are not authorized to provide.

4. Your inputs and saved projects

The project details you enter remain yours. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process, store, and display them so that we can provide the service to you, and to use de-identified or aggregated data to improve estimator accuracy and site performance. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for any details you provide about other people.

5. Intellectual property

The site, its text, design, schematics, estimator logic, and compiled material data are owned by BuildListCalc or its licensors and are protected by U.S. and international intellectual property law. You may use the results, bills of materials, and PDF exports for your own project or for a project you are planning for a client. You may not copy, frame, or reproduce the site itself or substantial portions of its content for redistribution.

6. Third-party retailers, contractors, and links

We do not control retailers, contractor partners, or other websites we link to, and we are not responsible for their products, prices, availability, licensing, insurance, workmanship, or conduct. Any purchase or contract you enter into is solely between you and that third party. Confirm licensing, insurance, references, and written scope with any contractor before hiring, and resolve disputes directly with them.

7. Affiliate compensation and referral fees

Some outbound links may be affiliate links: where an affiliate program is active, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Where we work with contractor or lead partners, a partner may pay us a referral fee for a qualified quote request that you choose to submit. This compensation does not change the quantities or specifications an estimator returns.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any estimate, quantity, or price will be accurate or complete. Some states do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BuildListCalc and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, wasted or over-ordered materials, rework, construction delays, or cost overruns arising out of your use of, or reliance on, the site.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the site will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100) or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, whichever is greater.

These exclusions and limits do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, violations of law, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Some states do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify BuildListCalc and its operators against third-party claims arising from your unlawful use of the site, your infringement of another person's rights, your intentional misconduct, or your material breach of these Terms.

11. Changes, availability, and termination

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site, and we may update these Terms. Updated Terms apply going forward from the revision date shown at the top of this page, and we will give reasonable notice of material changes; an update does not retroactively change rights or obligations that arose before that date. We may suspend access for any user who breaches these Terms; you may stop using the site at any time and ask us to delete your saved data.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by U.S. federal law and by the laws of the state in which the operator of BuildListCalc is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here limits any rights you have under the consumer-protection laws of the state where you live. 13. General

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Affiliate Disclosure, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the site.
