BuildListCalc is free to use. Part of what pays for building and maintaining the estimators is affiliate commission. This page explains that relationship in plain language, consistent with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255).
The short version
Some outbound links to retailers and product pages on this site may be affiliate links. Where an affiliate program is active and you follow one of those links and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
Where affiliate links appear
- Bill-of-materials tables and material list rows that link to a product page.
- Material and product suggestions inside calculator and project calculator results.
- Cost guides, comparison pages, and related articles.
Not every outbound link is an affiliate link. Links to building departments, standards bodies, manufacturer specification sheets, and reference material are provided for verification and earn us nothing.
How this affects what you see — and what it does not affect
- Quantities, waste factors, and specifications are produced by deterministic estimators from the inputs you enter. No affiliate relationship changes them.
- We do not accept payment to have a specific product recommended by an estimator, and we do not suppress cheaper alternatives.
- Material suggestions are selected for fit, common availability, and specification match at national retailers.
- Prices are reference figures captured on a stated date. The retailer controls the final price, availability, and specification at checkout.
Contractor quote requests
If you choose to submit the optional quote request form, a contractor or lead partner may pay us a referral fee for a qualified request. Submitting the form is voluntary, requires your consent, and is never required in order to use any calculator or project calculator.
No endorsement or warranty
An affiliate link is not an endorsement of the retailer or its products or services. We cannot be responsible for product quality, stock, delivery, returns, or warranty claims — those are between you and the retailer. Always confirm that a product matches the specification your project requires before buying.
